Duolingo: Learn Languages Free Review

Duolingo is a freemium application that’s designed to teach you foreign languages in a gamified format. The app gained immense popularity over the last 5 years as it offers the largest free database of language courses amongst its competitors. You can start learning several tongues at the same time and get personalized learning experiences with daily motivation portions.
Functionality – 5/5
The mobile version of the Duolingo service provides you with access to over 25 complete language courses, including their variations for different native languages. You have to choose your native language and the one you want to learn to start. The app’s AI will supply you with daily lessons and tests based on your current level so that you could keep progressing every day.
Design – 5/5
This app is one of the most intuitive in the category. Actually, it feels like the AI always guesses what you want to do, so you usually end up tapping what the algorithm tells you to tap. It’s a good way to concentrate on the material, especially when you’re tired after a long day at work or university.
Usability – 4/5
Duolingo is definitely an excellent service for both beginners and intermediate learners. It lets you keep learning even if you have very little time for that every day. On the other hand, the knowledge base isn’t powerful enough to go deeper into the tongue. If you’ve already decided which new language you want to learn and you have a strong purpose, it’s better to use something else for faster progress.
Cross-platform use – 5/5
The mobile version of Duolingo is available for iOS and Android. You can download it for free on the App Store and Google Play. Besides, you can access your account from your computer browser. You should also check out the browser version if you want to get access to a larger database of courses. Unlike the mobile version, it offers a variety of unfinished programs and even fantasy languages, such as Klingon. That’s really fun to try!
