Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) Unveils Zombie's Edge Update
Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has unleashed its novel 2.8 update, embedding a zombie-centric game mode titled ‘Zombie's Edge.' From this point onward, the update can be downloaded sans charges on both Android and iOS platforms. The sought-after game mode has been made accessible on the Erangel, Livik, and Miramar maps. The Aerolith Lab and its adjacent regions become the centers of action during the game, bustling with numerous ‘mutants’ to exterminate, albeit the sudden emergence of Berserker and Ripper variants indicates harder challenges. The Berserker is depicted as a burly figure whose right hand can effortlessly switch between a razor-sharp blade and a shielded fist. The Ripper, on the other hand, is nimble and adept at executing slash-style attacks.
Notably, Zombie's Edge is synonymous with the game mode introduced in the international version of PUBG Mobile last month. The exact modifications made in the exclusive Indian version, BGMI, are yet undefined. However, the patch notes suggest that they remain unchanged. The 2.8 update also unveils Mutation Gauntlets, which revolutionize gameplay with their power-packed features. There are slam attacks that annihilate zombies in a single and the Great Smash toolkit is reminiscent of the ultimate move of Doomfist in Overwatch 2. After activation, the player ascends into the air, selects a landing spot, and delivers a crushing, which inflicts colossal AOE damage. A unique Ripper version of the gauntlet also exists, facilitating a dash move and the ability to execute slashes.
All the features coalesce around the core out of the infection, the afore-mentioned Aerolith Lab. It functions like a massive, living organism that grows stronger by absorbing the undead. Once it reaches its full capacity, it generates a ‘Rage' Berserker, a powerful mutant that rewards a plethora of loot when eliminated. The update also integrates a Maglev Hoverboard to facilitate rapid in-game navigation over both terrestrial and aquatic platforms, in addition to a ‘Halloweeks' update that infuses the vicinity with carved pumpkins, vibrant disco lights, and dancing mutants.
For new players, it is important to know that BGMI emerged promptly after the Indian government imposed a ban on the widely-loved PUBG Mobile, citing privacy and security issues. BGMI was given the green light in May after a 10-month hiatus, with Krafton restricting playing hours and including a verification system for parental consent for in-game purchases. The revival also incorporated the new Nusa map, featuring a compact tropical region with zip lines and a Super Recall attribute that reincarnated deceased comrades in the game. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) granted the game a 'trial approval' period of three months. However, it is uncertain whether the restriction has been fully lifted at this point.
